Sasha’s story begins with a rough start, but her spirit has been unwavering from the very beginning. Born to a backyard breeder prematurely, this young purebred Maltese has faced more challenges than most dogs her age. Despite her obstacles, Sasha is one of the happiest and calmest puppies you’ll ever meet.

One of the first concerns was whether Sasha might have a liver shunt, a condition that can cause serious health problems in dogs. Fortunately, blood work ruled out this possibility, giving us some relief. But even without a liver shunt, Sasha’s medical needs are significant. She will always be a special needs girl, requiring extra care and attention throughout her life.

Sasha is nearly blind and has a stiff back leg. One day we hope to find a young family that is willing to care for her, but for now Sasha is a testament to the resilience of special needs animals, and she has already touched the hearts of everyone at Max’s Ark.
