Sasha’s story begins with a rough start, but her spirit has been unwavering from the very beginning. Born to a backyard breeder prematurely, this 10-month-old purebred Maltese has faced more challenges than most dogs her age. Despite her obstacles, Sasha is one of the happiest and calmest puppies you’ll ever meet.
One of the first concerns was whether Sasha might have a liver shunt, a condition that can cause serious health problems in dogs. Fortunately, blood work ruled out this possibility, giving us some relief. But even without a liver shunt, Sasha’s medical needs are significant. She will always be a special needs girl, requiring extra care and attention throughout her life.
Because of being nearly blind and having a stiff hind leg, several rescues refused to take her in. The reality is that special needs dogs like Sasha often come with higher veterinary bills and require more resources than many organizations can provide. But at Max’s Ark Rescue, we see beyond the challenges. We see Sasha for who she truly is—a sweet, loving, and resilient puppy who deserves a chance to live her best life.
Sasha may have her difficulties, but she never lets them dampen her spirit. She is a calm and joyful presence, bringing light and love to everyone she meets. Her imperfections only make her more special, and we are committed to ensuring she gets the care she needs and the loving home she deserves.
