Hi, I’m Baby!

My name is Baby, and I’m a sweet 9-year-old Maltese with a heart that’s full of love. Life has taken me on quite a journey, but thanks to the wonderful people at Max’s Ark, I’m finally getting the fresh start I deserve.

Before coming to rescue, I spent part of my life as a hospice support dog. My job was simple—I offered comfort, companionship, and unconditional love to people when they needed it most. I’ve always loved being around people, and I’m especially gentle with children.

When I arrived at Max’s Ark, I wasn’t feeling my best. I needed a dental procedure, and I had surgery to get me healthy again. Thanks to so many kind-hearted supporters, I’m healing beautifully and feeling better every day.

Now I’m ready for the next chapter of my life—a forever family!

I’m a calm, affectionate little guy who loves to be close to my people. Whether we’re taking a leisurely stroll, relaxing on the couch, or simply enjoying each other’s company, I’m happiest when I’m with someone who loves me. I still have plenty of life and love to share, and I promise to be a loyal companion.

I’ve spent my life caring for others. Now I’m hoping someone will choose me and let me spend my golden years knowing what it’s like to be truly cherished.

Hi, I’m Beau! I’m a 7-year-old Miki (that’s a fun little designer breed, in case you were wondering), and I’ve got a story I’d love to tell you.

I actually got my start with Max’s Ark Rescue as a tiny puppy — I was the only baby in my litter, and the rescue took in my whole family together: my mom, my dad, my two brothers, and my sister. I’ve always known what it feels like to be surrounded by love, even before I had my own person.

Seven years ago, a wonderful woman gave me my forever home, and I gave her seven of the best years a dog could ask for. We were a team. But life has a way of changing plans, even good ones, and recently she had to say goodbye to me through no fault of her own — she lost her husband, her health made things hard, and she had to move somewhere I couldn’t come along. It broke her heart, and honestly, it broke mine too. But she did something really important: she made sure I came right back to the people who loved me first. That’s how I ended up here again, safe and sound, waiting for my next chapter.

So here’s a little about me: I’m sweet, I’m loyal, and I know how to love a family with my whole heart. I’ve done it before and I’m ready to do it again. I may be 7, but I’ve got plenty of good years and cuddles left in me — and honestly, a dog with a little life experience already knows exactly how to fit into a home and make it feel complete.

If you’re looking for a companion who understands what it means to be part of a family, who’s calm, affectionate, and ready to settle in — I might just be your guy. I’m hoping my next home is my last one, and I promise to make every day worth it.

Hi… I’m Josie

I’m a 3-year-old Yorkshire Terrier with soft silver-and-tan fur and a heart that’s learning how to trust again. For most of my life, I was a puppy mill mama… having babies instead of being someone’s baby.

Now those days are finally behind me, and for the very first time, I get to dream about something that’s just for me… a forever home.

I’m a tiny girl at only 6 lbs, and I’m sweet, gentle, and quiet. I get along with other dogs and even cats, and I’m happiest in calm environments where I can feel safe and loved.

I’m fully vetted, spayed, and up to date on all my vaccines. Because of my past and delicate size, I need an experienced adopter who understands toy breeds and will be patient while I continue learning how wonderful life can be.

I may have spent my first years giving love to everyone else… but now I’m hoping someone chooses me.

My Name is Sassy

Hi! My name is Sassy.

That’s a pretty funny name because, for the first five months of my life, I didn’t have much to be sassy about.

I was born at a breeding kennel, where life was very different from what a puppy should know. There weren’t bedtime snuggles or family movie nights. No one tossed me a squeaky toy just to watch me play. I had never discovered that people could love a puppy simply because she existed.

Then one day, everything changed.

The breeder decided to surrender me to Max’s Ark Rescue.

I didn’t know it then, but that day was the beginning of my real life.

When I arrived, everyone was so kind. They spoke softly to me, gave me yummy food, made sure I was healthy, and showed me that gentle hands were nothing to fear. Every day, I grew a little braver.

And that’s when my personality started to shine.

Turns out…I really am a little sassy!

I love exploring every inch of the world around me. If there’s a new toy, I’ll find it. If there’s a treat, I’ll politely remind you that I deserve one. I make friends wherever I go—with dogs, with cats, and especially with people who smile at me.

I’m curious, clever, playful, and always ready for my next adventure. I have a big personality packed into one tiny Maltese body, and I’m learning that life can be exciting instead of scary.

There are still things I haven’t experienced yet. I’ll need a family that understands puppies like me sometimes need a little extra patience while we learn what it means to be someone’s beloved companion. I wasn’t raised in a home, so every day brings something new—and I think that’s pretty exciting.

The people at Max’s Ark keep telling me that somewhere, there’s a family waiting for a little white puppy with bright eyes, a joyful spirit, and a heart that’s ready to love with everything she’s got.

Hi… I’m Bruno.

I’m a 5/6-year-old white Pomeranian, and I used to think I had a forever family… but when they moved, they left me behind.

I didn’t understand it at first. I kept waiting. But now I’m safe, and I’m learning that sometimes endings can still lead to new beginnings.

Even after everything, I’m still me—affectionate, gentle, and surprisingly chill for a little guy like me. I love to explore, I’m a bit athletic when I get excited, and I’m always curious about what’s going on around me. And yes… I’m very food-motivated (treats definitely help me trust you faster!).

I get along with both dogs and cats, and I enjoy being near people once I feel safe. I may be a little cautious at first, but I’m resilient—and once I bond with you, I’m incredibly snuggly and loyal.

I’m looking for an experienced adopter who understands small dogs and can give me patience, stability, and love for the rest of my life. I’ve already lost one home… I don’t want to lose another.

My Name is Izhy!

I’m only six months old, but sometimes it feels like I’ve already lived a lifetime.

I was born in a place where dogs like me were expected to make puppies. I don’t remember anyone holding me just because they loved me. I don’t remember toys, soft beds, or someone whispering that I was a good girl. Life was about surviving.

Then one day, everything changed.

The breeder was closing down, and I was loaded into a car. I didn’t know where I was going. I was scared, dirty, and didn’t feel very good. My little body was in rough shape, and I wondered if anyone would even want a tiny puppy like me.

That’s when I met the people at Max’s Ark Rescue.

They didn’t look at how matted I was or how frightened I felt. They looked into my eyes.

They told me I was safe.

For the first time in my life, someone cared if I was hungry. Someone made sure I saw a veterinarian. They gently cleaned me up, helped me feel better, and showed me that human hands could bring comfort instead of fear.

Every day, I discover something new.

A soft blanket is the most wonderful thing I’ve ever felt.

A squeaky toy is pure magic.

Treats are amazing! (I may do just about anything for one.)

I love exploring every corner of the yard, making new dog friends, and even saying hello to cats. I’m curious about everything because the world is finally a place I’m allowed to discover.

People tell me I’m clever, playful, affectionate, and adventurous. They laugh because I’m always trying to figure things out. I love being close to the people I trust, and my tail seems to have a mind of its own—it never stops wagging.

I’m still learning that not every new experience is scary. Sometimes I need someone patient who understands that my first six months weren’t like most puppies’. I’ve missed out on so many things, but I’m making up for lost time one happy day at a time.

My past doesn’t define me.

It simply explains why my future means so much.

Somewhere out there is a family who will see beyond where I came from and celebrate who I’m becoming. They’ll understand that rescued hearts sometimes need a little extra patience—but they also have the biggest love to give.

I’ve already survived the hardest part of my story.

Now I’m ready for the best chapter.

I am an adorable little Sheltie girl, 8 months old, smart, clever and happy and I’m ready to find my forever home! My foster mom says I have a wonderful personality; playful, sweet, and full of love. I really enjoy my toys and I love to play and bring joy wherever I go.

I am deaf, but that doesn’t slow me down at all! I am very attentive and eager to learn. I love my routines and I respond to most visual cues. My foster mom takes me walking on a leash and I just love it!

Sometimes, rescue has a way of bringing two souls together who were simply meant to find each other.

Meet Ivy & Kiwi — two very special babies who have become the sweetest bonded pair.

Kiwi, our adorable long-haired Chihuahua, came to Max’s Ark with a deformed spine. Despite everything life handed her, she is the sweetest little girl with so much love to give.

Ivy, our precious little Mini Aussie, is deaf. She may not hear the world around her, but she has no trouble feeling love — especially when that love comes from her best friend, Kiwi.

Somehow, these two special-needs babies found comfort, companionship, and security in each other. Now you rarely see one without the other. Where Ivy goes, Kiwi follows. Where Kiwi rests, Ivy is never far away.

They don’t care that one can’t hear and the other has a spine that makes life a little different. They simply know that together, they are better.

And honestly… isn’t that what rescue is all about?
Finding the ones who need a little extra love — and watching them discover that they are perfectly loved just as they are.

Meet Kiwi — A Tiny Boy With a Big Spirit

Meet Kiwi, a new little member of the Max’s Ark family.

Kiwi is just 12 months old, an adorable little Apple Head Chihuahua, and weighs a teeny-tiny 3 pounds. But don’t let his size fool you — this little boy has a personality much bigger than he is!

Kiwi came to us as a surrender after his owner noticed that something just wasn’t right. Kiwi wasn’t walking normally, and his hind legs were very weak. His little body was struggling to do something that most puppies take for granted — running, playing and simply getting around.

When Kiwi arrived at Max’s Ark, we knew this tiny boy needed some extra attention and care.

He has been getting daily exercise and physical activity, and we are already seeing improvement in those little back legs! Every tiny step forward is something worth celebrating.

Kiwi may only weigh three pounds, but he has already shown us something incredibly important: he doesn’t know that he’s supposed to feel sorry for himself. He just wants to be loved, cuddled, and included!

And that sweet personality? Oh my goodness.
Kiwi is one of those little dogs who steals your heart without even trying.

My Name is Susie!

Hi, I’m Susie!

I’m 3 years old, and I’m a beautiful Russian Yorkshire Terrier. For much of my life, I was part of a backyard breeding operation. When the breeder went out of business, everything changed for me. I suddenly found myself in need of a safe place to land—and thankfully, Max’s Ark came to my rescue.

I’m still learning what it means to simply be a dog. A dog who gets to relax. A dog who gets cuddles. A dog who gets to discover that hands can be gentle and that people can be trusted.

And there is one very important part of my story: my sister Lucy. We are bonded, and Lucy is my comfort and my familiar face. We have been through so much together, and having her beside me makes this big new world feel a little less scary. We are hoping to find a forever family who will understand how special our bond is and let us continue our journey together.

I can be a little shy and introverted at first, so I need someone who will be patient with me and let me come out of my shell at my own pace. But once I feel safe, you’ll discover my affectionate and snuggly side. I’m gentle, patient, and a little goofy too! And if you happen to have treats nearby… well, I’m definitely food-motivated!

I’m doing well with other dogs and I’m good with cats, so I’d love a home where I can continue learning from my people and feeling safe. Because of my past, I’m looking for an experienced adopter who understands that little dogs like me may need time, patience, and plenty of reassurance.

I’m already spayed and up to date on my vaccinations, and now I’m just waiting for the most important part of my journey…
